If you’ve made it to the Family Blog, you’ve likely figured out by now that Williamson Families is not an ordinary Political Action Committee (PAC). The “establishment” way of doing politics in Williamson County has been steadily leading us in the wrong direction for many years. Being a pilot, I equate this (as I do many things) to flying. Just one degree away from your intended course in an airliner travelling at normal speed will result in being nine miles off course in an hour. Compounded over several hours, one degree off heading will land you 27 miles off course. I’d call that a serious deviation. In certain circumstances, it would be a perilous one.
Williamson County is off heading. The deviation hasn’t been gross, but it’s been there, one or two degrees for ten years or more. This insidious departure from traditional conservative values went largely undetected by most conservatives until 2021, when parents unmasked the true nature of their school board. Williamson County residents are now asking “how far off course are we?” and starting to look critically at not just their school board, but also their county commissioners, aldermen, mayors, and state elected officials.
Congratulations Williamson County, you’re waking up. You’re becoming aware that we’re off heading, and we’ve been that way for a long time. Who got us there? Answer: “the old way of doing things” by the people “that have always done them.” In other words, establishment politics. Well, I’ve had about enough of that. Williamson Families has already dedicated 200 hours to the vetting of the current Franklin city alderman candidates. We do not endorse anyone who does not stand firm for Williamson County and our traditional values. If there is a “No Endorsement,” in a race, it is not for lack of our due diligence.
Trust is not given; it is earned. Once broken, trust is almost impossible to restore. We recognize that. We will do everything in our power to earn your trust, so that when Williamson Families endorses a candidate, you know that we are concerned with none other than the residents of this county. We live here, too. We are not political operatives; we are not a national political organization. We are just concerned local citizens who want to ensure Williamson County remains a safe place to raise a family, a place where businesses thrive, and a premier place to live.
Williamson County needs a course correction. And what if we don’t? You’ve probably already guessed my analogy: we’re off course and headed toward a mountain of failed Leftist policies. You can see the wreckage of other cities who did not recognize and recover their situations in time: Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Austin, Atlanta, NYC, Minneapolis, Boulder (to name a few) and even the quaint idyllic town of Chico, California (future post). Let Williamson County recognize and recover, that together we may be a city on a hill.
